Six KPLT Ultras Killed, One Hacked to Death

Diphu September 23: In a tactical operation against the rebel Karbi militant outfit Karbi Peoples Liberation Tiger, the Indian army and Assam police from Bokajan police station last night gunned down 6 alleged cadres of the militant group. The deaths came in a fierce fire fight which lasted for nearly an hour. According to police the fight took place inside a remote forested region located within the general area of Paklangso in Bokajan subdivision. In the gun battle between the militants and security forces, one of Indian army Inspector sustained a bullet wound. “The raiding party based on specific information cordoned off two tree houses where they were sheltering for the night. When they were challenged by the army and police, they opened fire on the security forces, in the reprisal action, our forces returned fire killing six of them. Probably a few managed to flee under cover of darkness. All the deceased were brought to Bokajan police station, and will be sent to Diphu civil hospital for autopsy,” Debojit Deury, Superintendent of Police Karbi Anglong told this reporter over the phone. Later, after liquidating the militants, the security forces recovered one INSAS rifle, one Self Loading Rifle, three .32mm pistol and two grenades from the slain militants.
