SRINAGAR, INDIA: JULY 23

The army on Thursday said they foiled an infiltration attempt near the Line of Control in North Kashmir’s Tangdhar sector and killed two militants.

A defense spokesperson said that an attempt of infiltration by heavily armed militants was foiled on 22 and 23 July by the army deployed along the Line of Control.

“The encounter resulted in the killing of two militants and recovery of weapons and warlike stores,” said the spokesperson. “The bodies of two militants have been recovered. The identification, however, is yet to be carried out.”

Sources in the Indian Army told NewsBlaze that the spot where the encounter took place was difficult terrain and the militants were hiding inside a cave.

According to the Indian army, two of its soldiers were also wounded during the operation. The condition of both of the soldiers is stable.

The spokesperson further said that the operation was continuing as of the last reports received.
