Srinagar:

Mobile services across Kashmir Valley have been suspended ahead of the main Independence Day function due to security reasons.

Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed is scheduled to hoist the national flag and participate in the 69th Independence Day celebrations in Srinagar.

Authorities, in the past, have suspended mobile operations in Kashmir for the past many years to prevent remote control triggering of explosive devices by militants using phone signals.
