Srinagar:

Two army soldiers were killed and two others sustained bullet wounds after two units of an army battalion fired at each other, suspecting each other as militants in Awantipora area in South Kashmir on Tuesday evening.

Sources in the army said that a unit of 42 Rashtriya Riffles had laid an ambush near an
orchard at Noorpora village, following intelligence inputs about the movement of some militants in the area. However, another unit of the same army battalion passed by the same area and they fired at each other, resulting in the killing of two soldiers.

The slain soldiers were identified as Mohan Boro and Sepoy Lal Chanhlima

The two injured soldiers went to the local hospital for further treatment.
