Diphu September 3: Thadou Conclave Delhi-2015 (TCD) is holding its global conference in New Delhi with two days scheduled at Mizoram House from 23rd September. Michal Haokip Thadou, General Secretary of Thadou Conclave Organizing Committee and Kammang Lhouvung Chairman of the organization, called upon the Thadous spread across the nation to extend help and support to make the effort productive.
Two commended Thadou personalities will grace the conclave whose theme is “Resurgence of Thadou tribe” ;Pu Mr.Chungkhokai Doungel, ex Minister and founder secretary of Thadou Students Assocation (TRA) will be the chief guest in the opening ceremony while Pu Mr. Kaikhokam Kipgen, first Thadu IAS( retd) will be the chief guest of the closing ceremony.

It may be mentioned here that Thadou community is a distinct Mongoloid origin tribe spread in most places of northeast India, their basic occupation is agriculture, livestock rearing and government service. Thadou people are built strong and are recognized as martial class of the hilly northeast India; they were the ideal choice of the regal rulers of the country during formation of the Kuki-Chin belt across Chinese border. Literacy percentage among the Thadou are almost 100%, extensive credit goes to the Christian missionaries who shaped the society from every angle. With a marginal cultural difference with the Mizo community the Thadous have resemblance in a great deal trait of the Mizos.
Thadou Tribes Recognition
It may be recalled here that government of India through its order no 24774 dated 29th Oct, 1956 the recognized by the Thadou tribes. According to 2011 census report the Thadou population in Manipur excluding other states was two lakhs, it is one of the single largest tribe of Manipur. Thadous living in Myanmar, India and other parts of the world documented their custom, culture and language; they express full social and cultural identity in their everyday life.
“During the past sixty years various steps have been taken for progress and development of the Thadou but due circumstance of problems we could not succeed as it is expected” Michal Haokip Thadou General Secretary of Thadou Conclave Organizing Committee said. He also mentioned that the thadou Conclave Delhi 2015 will be seminar type where group discussions and inter actions among delegates and resource person will be held.
