16 Pakistan Rangers arrived in New Delhi Wednesday, for annual talks with their counterparts, Indian Border Security Force (BSF) officials.
The Pakistani delegation is headed by Rangers (Punjab) Director General Maj Gen Umar Farooq Barki. The Indian side is represented by BSF Director-General Devendra Kumar Pathak.
The meeting will last for four days.
The meeting assumes some significance, because the NSA level talks between Pakistan’s National Security Advisor Sartaz Aziz and his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval were cancelled last month.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry called off the scheduled Sunday talks on Saturday evening, between its National Security Advisor Sartaz Aziz and his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval. Pakistan said its reason for calling off the talks was the imposition of pre-conditions by India on not meeting Kashmiri separatist leaders and not bringing the Kashmir issue to the table.
