India Energy Usage In Rural Areas
Currently, India produces 200,000 megawatts of energy, and coal generates just over half of that.
Even with this large amount of energy, almost one quarter of India’s 1.24 billion population still has no access to electricity.
The expansion of mining, especially for coal, threatens forests and agricultural land.
India lags behind other nations in use and promotion of renewable energy. India is the fourth largest emissions emitter due to reliance on coal.
In Rajasthan, agricultural solar water pump installations are helping farmers improve their land. It does this by allowing irrigation while at the same lowering costs and removing barriers.
The Rajasthan Horticulture Department promotes the expansion of these solar pump installations.
