Kashmir is a beautiful country, famous for its horticulture. Kashmiri horticulture has grown by leaps and bounds in the past few years. In 2014, more than 3,300 hectares of land was used for apple orchards. Growers keep their orchards safe from all types of pests by spraying pesticides.
The industry is working hard to maintain quality, to allow for exporting Kashmir apples to international markets. “If we want to achieve maximum revenue out of our apple production then we have to export a big portion of it to other parts of the world” says Sheikh Ashaq Ahmad, President of The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).
