Srinagar:

Three policemen sustained bullet wounds after militants fired at a police party on Friday evening in Mujgund area in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Police say they have launched a manhunt to nab the attackers.

Police said that a senior police officer and other two policemen were wounded after they came under the attack by the militants. All of the three policemen have been shifted to the hospital for treatment.

“The attack took place when the police party was checking the vehicles passing on the national highway,” a senior police officer said. “When a passenger vehicle was asked to stop, the militants present inside fired at the policemen.”

Deputy Inspector General of Police North Kashmir Gareeb Das told Newsblaze that police have started investigation and hoped that the attackers will be soon arrested.

Senior police officials said that after the attack vehicles moving on the Srinagar- Baramulla highway are being checked and the security has been beefed up in the city and other parts of valley.
