Diphu, December 25, 2023 – As the much-anticipated Golden Jubilee of the Karbi Youth Festival (KYF) approaches, the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and Karbi Cultural Society are leaving no stone unturned in refurbishing Taralangso, the celebration’s venue on the outskirts of Diphu town.
Scheduled from January 12 to 19, 2024, the event promises a week-long extravaganza of cultural celebrations. Dedicated workers and volunteers are tirelessly engaged in creative missions, focusing on redecoration and innovation across the heritage sites.
Infrastructure Improved
Significant infrastructure improvements, including roads, water supply, and power facilities, have been completed. A spacious auditorium with a seating capacity of three thousand, open-air stages, amphitheaters, museums, market sites, parks, and a monorail are nearing finalization.
The festivities will host thirty government departments, cooperative societies, and NGOs, showcasing exhibits from permanent pavilions. An ethnic village will feature displays of traditional dwellings, food, clothing, jewelry, drinks, and diverse cultural performances by various tribal and non-tribal communities.
Local Artists
Thousands of artists from Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao, Kamrup, Nagaon, and Sonitpur will engage in cultural, traditional sports, and other contests. A mega artist village has been redesigned to accommodate participants.
With optimism, President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu is expected to grace the 50th edition of KYF as the chief guest. The event has also extended invitations to foreign tourists, neighboring state chief ministers and governors, ambassadors from twenty countries, researchers, journalists, bloggers, film directors, academics, and students from global educational institutions.
Extensive renovations are underway for roads, government institutions, the secretariat of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, guest houses, bungalows, parks, botanical gardens, and the bus and truck terminus. Additionally, a multipurpose indoor stadium is set to be inaugurated in Diphu town ahead of the mega event.
