Diphu May 5: Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council apparently seems to be caught between the devil and the deep sea. The situation cropped up after the demand raised by the organization of some 26 social and student bodies pertaining to the voters list of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council’s election and other subsequent stipulations and his political obligation has worsened the state of affairs.
The demands brought up by the organizations referring Constitutional obligations have steered the movement. But the political part, uncharacteristic demographic prototype, land policy of the picky sixth schedule Karbi Anglong under all probability have constrained the KAAC chief to take legal cover.
Although the agitating leaders are also waiting for the outcome of the PIL filed in Guwahati High Court seeking justice in this matter, it is quite regrettable that out of the court dialogue between the council authority and the organizations failed to remain conducive.
The cardinal associate of the conglomeration, People’s Party meanwhile has sternly damned Karbi Anglong CEM Tuliram Ronghang for unexpectedly ending the conference without taking the 26 organizations into his confidence.
People’s Party president Rajen Timung said, “it was a great disappointment for the indigenous people of Karbi Anglong district, the act of KAAC CEM clearly showed that he is not concerned with protecting the indigenous tribes.”
The organization leaders have also admonished various political parties for not stating their stand in this issue. The leaders reason that the parties are maintaining stoic silence fearing loss of vote banks when the election is at hand. The PP has requested all like minded people to extend their support and to resolve the issue.
