The Indian army killed three militants in an encounter between the militants and security personnel in North Kashmir’s Handwara district on Saturday evening.
Police said that an Indian army officer was wounded in the gun battle. A senior police official said the encounter broke out on Saturday evening in a village close to the forests in Handwara.
“We have recovered three bodies of the militants and the search operation is still going on,” said Deputy Inspector General of Police North Kashmir Gareeb Das. “One army officer who was wounded in the encounter has been shifted to hospital and is stable.”
Das said they have not yet identified the slain militants, nor their group affiliation.
