Dokmoka: Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Hagrama Mohilary while rolling his irritation against Congress party’s attitude of vengeance against its political rivals once again lashed out at the Gogoi ministry publicly.
Mohilary while addressing a political rally at Dokmoka Higher Secondary school play ground around 80 kilometers from Diphu organized by ‘Hills State Democratic Council’ today said that, not only his personal security has been reduced by the Congress government but the Dima Hasao MAC (Member of Autonomous Council) Jewel Garalosa was arrested a few days ago. He said both acts carried out speaks about the political vindictive outlook of Congress.
The rally was organized to raise support for the newly formed ‘United Peoples Front’ a conglomeration of 8 ethnic tribes sponsored by political front of Assam. The most important political ally of UPF in the autonomous hill districts of Assam is the ‘Hills State Democratic Council.’ The grand show of strength at Dokmoka, saw a gathering of around 25 thousand people. The HSDC leaders practically demonstrated its striking comeback in the political circumstances of the tribal dominated hills from virtual oblivion.
Zero Development in Hill Areas
Hagrama Mohilary gave a special call to the people of Karbi Anglong to wipe-out Congress from the hills of Assam, he demanded that the ethnic tribal militant organizations which has come over ground by signing an accord with government should be given weight in fulfilling the clauses of the agreement and all the pending criminal cases against the cadres of the organizations filed by police should be withdrawn to help them to return to the mainstream. Hagrama Mohilary brusquely criticized Khorsing Engti, the Hill Areas Development Minister of Gogoi cabinet who also represents Dokmoka area as MLA, for his failure on all fronts as far as economic development of the hill areas of Assam is concerned.
Present in the rally were Dr. Jayanta Rongpi, UPF convener and ideologue of ‘Hills State Democratic Council’ the closest ally of the newly formed tribal accumulation, MP Rajya Sabha Biswajit Daimari, Tonkeswar Rabha, Chief Executive Member of Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council, Ronoj Pegu Chief Executive Member of Missing Autonomous Council and other leaders of various tribal political organizations of Assam.
Dr. Rongpi advocated for tribal unity to stop exploitation of the underprivileged tribal peoples of Assam by successive Congress governments both in Delhi and Dispur, criticizing the Congress policy of misuse of power for the growth of the privileged section of society. Dr. Rongpi called upon the peoples of Assam to drive out Congress in the coming election. “Congress came to power in Assam trading on sour mango but at this point in time they will be rejected by the people as it has delivered zero development instead of all round development” Dr. Rongpi said.
Keeping up political pressure on the ruling Congress in Karbi Anglong, the district BJP organized a massive demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Diphu today. Thousands of BJP activists screamed slogans demanding the arrest of Assam Pradesh Congress President Anjan Dutta for his alleged involvement in the notorious Sarada scam. BJP also demanded a supply of drinking water and for enhanced power to be provided.
