Guwahati, July 21 : A hardcore NDFB(S) militant commander was killed in an encounter with security forces in Assam’s Chirang district on Tuesday morning.
An encounter at Amteka village controlled by Amguri police station in Bijni sub division of the BTAD district resulted in the death of a hardcore NDFB(S) militant. The militant was identified as Rinsar Narzary alias Gaitha, police said.
After receiving local intelligence, Chirang police, 210 Cobra of CRPF and Army 7 Sikhlai unit soldiers, under the command of Capt. Vyom, launched a joint operation in the remote area around 3:30 am on Tuesday.
The militant was killed in a gun fight. BTAD IGP, Dr LR Bisnoi reported that a 9mm pistol, a magazine, five rounds of live ammunition, and a single HE36 hand grenade were recovered from the body of the militant.
“The deceased militant was the section commander of Koilamoila unit of the outfit and 2012 Bhutan trained cadre. He was acting I/C of ration supply for NDFB(S) cadres. He was involved in ethnic violence and killing of two Adivasis at Santipur village under Runikhata police station in Chirang district in December last year, ” Dr LR Bisnoi said.
More than 100 NDFB(S) militants were killed and at least 300 were captured by security forces during the All Out Operation against the Bodo militant group after the massacre in Kokrajhar and Sonitpur districts in December last year.
