Diphu June 25: Assam cabinet’s decision to appoint home guard Borsing Bey to the post of constable has been widely hailed by people of Karbi Anglong. Borsing Bey was instrumental in seizure of crystal methamphetamine drugs with INR 12 crore at Karbi Anglong’s Dillai police check gate, while discharging his duty as a home guard.

Bey declined the temptation of hefty cash bribes offered by the drug dealers and led to the seizure of three kilograms of high-quality crystal methamphetamine valued more than INR 12 crore from a Guwahati-bound passenger bus coming from Manipur at Dillai police check gate on Monday night.
“From now Borsing Bey has been appointed as a constable in Assam Police. He has been endorsed for his heroic and honest act,” Parliamentary Affairs minister Pijush Hazarika told the media immediately following the cabinet meeting.
Previously, overwhelmed by his ‘honest act,’ director-general of Assam Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta paid one lakh rupees as an incentive to Bey. He has been posted in Dillai police station of Karbi Anglong district where he accomplished his gallant act last week.
Bey, from Dokmoka, 90km from Dillai became a home guard in 2003. Find more information at Telegraph India.
