Diphu April 23: Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council is leaving no stone unturned in welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Anglong autonomous district. The Prime Minister will address a massive rally at Loring Thepi village around 75 kilometers from Diphu, the headquarter town of Karbi Anglong Autonomous district on April 28.

Massive preparation is going on in that sleepy locality where more than five lakh gatherings are expected to take place. To oversee the preparedness Assam Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika visited Loring Thepi yesterday.

Hazarika told the news persons present there that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit in the region will give a new impetus to harmony and growth in the hill region of Assam. He declared that five lakh people will attend the rally from all nearby areas to hear Modi.

Mukul Kathar, Secretary to the Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council who is in charge of the Prime Ministers program, told this correspondent that the Prime Minister will declare some major developmental projects in Karbi Anglong during his first visits, which are part of the recently signed peace accord between six armed rebel groups and Government of India.

Projects

The projects include establishment of a Veterinary College and Hospital at Manja town around seventeen kilometers from Diphu at an estimated cost of rupees three hundred eighty four crore.

Other projects include establishment of an Agriculture College at Kolonga, and a government degree college at Umpanai in West Karbi Anglong district under the administrative jurisdiction of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council.

The Prime Minister will also declare a scheme under which seventy five of community fisheries will be created in each district of Assam at an estimated cost of nearly four hundred crores. This project has been named “Amrit Sarovar Scheme.”
