Diphu April 10: Kuki underground outfit ‘United People’s Revolutionary Front’ and ‘Kuki Liberation Front’ which is active in Karbi Anglong have expressed their willingness for negotiation with the government recently.

They made contact through the Kuki civil body Kuki National Assembly.

The development came after security forces engaged in a counter-terrorism operation gunned down three UPRF ultras in the high altitude area of Singhason Hills. A number of sophisticated weapons and some ammunition was seized from the UPRF hideout.

After this incident, Chairman of UPRF, Martin Guitey, and KLF Chairman, B. Changlai, dispatched separate letters to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. The letter asked Sonowal to stop armed operations against their organizations, indicating their readiness to find the middle ground.
