Diphu July 11: In a factional clash within two UPRF splinter groups (United People’s Revolutionary Front) at dawn in the heights of Singhason hills of Karbi Anglong district today; the self-styled UPRF Commander in Chief, Manggin Kholhou alias Verappan was killed.

According to police, the shootout incident took place inside deep forest near Thangpibung village. The place of discharge is commanded by Bokajan police station and is around fifteen kilometers from the general area of Tokolangso.

After the skirmish police reached the place and brought the body for initial examination to Bokajan Civil Hospital and later brought the body to Diphu Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.

Police have attributed the incident to an internal clash within the ultra group. No information of arms recovery has been confirmed by police.

Last month, security forces killed a number of UPRF cadres .

Back in 2017, UPRF and KUKI Liberation Front cadres announced they were ready for talks, but that did not last.
