Diphu July 15: Seized drugs that are now in custody of Assam Police collected during the past two months will be burned as a demonstrative action by the Government of Assam on 17th July, and simultaneously in Diphu and Golaghat. Particular sites have been prepared to destroy the seized drugs by fire in public view.
A similar action of blazing drugs will be carried out on 18th July in the Hojai and Nowgaon districts. Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Tuliram Ronghang made the declaration on behalf of Chief Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Ronghang, during his visit to the place where the drugs set blazing, was accompanied by NG Chandra Dhwaj Singha, Deputy Commissioner and Pushpraj Singh Superintendent of Police Karbi Anglong.
Tuliram Ronghang also spoke about recruiting Commando Battalions to secure Assam’s Border with Nagaland, to maintain security and prevent the entry of more drugs.
Seized Drugs: Marijuana in Tungje Punggo
A special Investigation Team from Dima Hasao Police led by Sub Inspector Moauty Basumatary assisted by 11 Assam Rifles apprehended one Keheuramying Newme son of N. Newme around thirty years of age and recovered 101.19 kilograms of marijuana from him.
The consignment of drugs was recovered from village Tungje Punggo; the area is commanded by Mahur police station.
Forty Three Families Join BJP
In the continued erosion of the opposition political parties in Karbi Anglong, as many as forty three families in Mahamaya electorate, eastern Karbi Anglong joined the BJP today. The newcomers deserted APHLC, HSDC and AGP to join Bharatiya Janata Party.
